Bamboosa Baby Products – affordable USA-made baby wear

By Jak Burke
We like Bamboosa. We spend a lot of time looking at products and analyzing how beneficial they are to new parents. Our criteria is simple: is it well-made? Is it made from natural materials? Is it made in the USA – which has some of the most stringent child-protection laws in existence? Finally is the product fun and baby-friendly? On all counts Bamboosa makes the grade. Here’s why:

Bamboosa manufactures all of their products in a sewing plant in South Carolina. Their employees are third generation sewing machine operators who take great pride in the art of sewing. Bamboosa is made from bamboo which needs to be blended with other fibers in order to be stable. Bamboosa manufactures their own fabrics and they have several different blends: 70% bamboo viscose/30% organic cotton 67% Viscose from Organic Bamboo/ 28% Organic Cotton/ 5% Lycra94% Viscose from Organic Bamboo, 6% Lycra. The products machine wash, using mild soap, cold or warm water and tumble dry. Bamboosa does not recommend using bleach. 80% of the environmental impact of clothing results post-purchase. The majority of the focus of sustainability should be how we wash our clothes, not just how they were made.

Bamboosa is good for the planet. Bamboo is easier to dye than most natural fabrics meaning less chemical processing at the dyeing stage than cotton or synthetics.  They do not use ANY chlorine for bleaching or pre-bleaching nor do they use any dye-fixing agents which contain some unattractive compounds – on any products. No, the colors do not fade – they remain bright and rich through many washings. We LOVE the colors – they are fresh and infant-centric. Note: While the bamboo fiber is sourced direct from China much is done to protect the natural habitat of the Panda bear.

We wanted one of our parent ambassadors a Bamboosa product to test. Here is her review:
Parent review – Wendy.
“The Bamboosa hooded towel and and wash clothes really exceeded my expectations.  They are so soft! The size of the towel is perfect for my 1 yr old daughter and wraps around her completely for full coverage.  I like that this towel does not take up a lot of space in the closet, yet it is as absorbent as a larger towel.  When I am drying the towel in the dryer, I usually have to run it a little longer to make sure the hooded part has dried because it holds water so well. The wash clothes are the perfect size as well and create a nice lather. My favorite feature of this towel is it’s softness and as you can see, my daughter likes it too!.”  Wendy mom to a 1 year old.
