By Jak Burke,
Call it global warming but February is becoming the new March in terms of temperatures. As many families annually head down south for some sun and sand, you can make the most of a staycation with your toddler in NYC.
Woods
Hike. You won’t have to worry about bugs and humidity during the Spring so get out and make the most of our unique NYC hiking trails. Here are our top hiking trails.
River
South Street Seaport. Take in the East River, landmark architecture, local artisan stores and outdoor food venues. This Manhattan waterfront is undergoing a facelift. Coming soon is a redeveloped visitor’s shopping mall but cute little eateries are already popping up on the river front. Check it out. The Seaport hosts an annual “Out to See” festival, featuring live music, art and movies at 192 Front Street. The area is rich in maritime history. Check out the Maritime museum and the Imagination playground.
Beach
Coney Island. It’s a good time to head to the beach while it’s still uncrowded. The Boardwalk has a diner, gift shops, a legendary bar called Rudys with out-door seating and the famous Nathans hotdog is always open. You can also check out the NY Aquarium for marine wildlife. For local history go to the Coney Island Museum and sample things past.
