Your NYC Neighbor – is a way of introducing New Yorkers to a rich community of savvy parents. New York is a diverse City bustling with all kinds of families and personalities. We also love to grab tips and recommendations from moms and dads in certain neighborhoods and throughout the 5 Boroughs, and especially people who have created a product, service or site that helps new parents or appeals to children. Meet Tiffany Winbush: Networking Queen, PR Guru and an advocate for aspiring women everywhere.
Tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m Tiffany Winbush, a social media and public relations professional with over 10 years of experience in the industry. I’m passionate about building active and thriving communities through social media. I’ve worked with major brands, emerging businesses and entrepreneurs providing PR outreach, social media training, social media account management and more.
I’m also dedicated to empowering women and girls. I volunteer regularly with the over 100 year-old public service organization Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Manhattan’s Community Board #1 and serve on the alumni board for the New York University School of Professional Studies.
I’ve called NYC home for almost 11 years, but I’m a transplant from Louisiana, moving to NYC soon after graduating with a degree in Public Relations. I reside in Manhattan with my tech entrepreneur husband, our four year-old daughter and soon-to-be baby boy. Raising a family in the hustle and bustle of the city is interesting to say the least, but I wouldn’t change it for the world!
Where do you live?
I’m a long-time resident of the Financial District. It’s the only NYC neighborhood I’ve ever lived it, except for a two-week stint in Spanish Harlem with my husband, then fiancé, and his two roommates.
Why do you love where you live?
I love the Financial District for the growth I’ve seen in the neighborhood since I moved there in 2005! It’s transformed itself from a neighborhood only occupied by Wall Street types, to young professionals and now a bubbling hub of families. Being so close to the Hudson and East Rivers, as well as all the accessible transportation – quick access to both the west and east sides! – is also a major plus. Finally, I’ve proud to be apart of a community of people who helped revitalize Lower Manhattan after the horrific events of September 11. The neighborhood is one of perseverance!
What do you do?
Doing the day I lead global social media for an online media company. At night, I consult with women entrepreneurs teaching them how to master social media and securing them online PR coverage. On the weekends, I’m an adjunct professor of marketing communications.
What’s great about what you do?
In each and everything I do, I live by the motto: “Lift as you climb.” I’m constantly looking for ways that I can bring others along on my personal and professional journey. My friends often refer to me as the Queen of Networking. I take pride in knowing I’ve done my absolute best to be in service to others.
How can people benefit from your expertize?
My expertise includes helping women brand themselves through social media and online publicity. We’re now in the era of IOT (the Internet of all Things) and its essential to have a positive online brand. In the ever-evolving world that we live in, women can benefit from my expertise of helping them establish an online presence they can be proud of!
Can you give our readers a take-away tip?
As you’ve seen from my bio above, I’m involved in a number of activities! With Baby Winbush #2 on the way, I’ve dedicated myself to focusing on the three “F’s.” Those include: My faith, family and friends.
Decide what you want to focus on, especially as we head into 2017, and be intentional about making the things you’ve committed to focusing on a priority.
